When do we talk about a children's e-bike?
Children's bike or junior bike? At what point do we stop talking about children's bikes and start talking about bikes for teenagers? The first guideline here is the inch size of the youth bike. From a size of 24 inches onwards we speak of a bike for teens. In most cases, this size is a suitable bike for school children aged 8 years. But be careful: the decisive factor in choosing the right inch size for a youth bike is how the child gets along with the junior bike. Parents should not rely on the information given in any size chart, but should instead rely on how their child copes with the respective size. Someone who “actually” should ride a 27.5-inch youth bike due to their height or age can also ride a smaller model if they feel safer with it. Because this always applies above all other factors: safety comes first! Below is a brief overview for your orientation: A 24-inch youth bike is usually suitable for 8-year-olds. A 26-inch youth bike is usually the ideal size for 12-year-olds. From a height of 160 cm, a youth bike with 27.5 inches can be considered in many cases.

When it comes to a bike for school children and teens, not only safety but also appearance is a big issue.

Bright colors or would you prefer classic black? Would you rather race over hill and dale on a mountain bike or would you rather race through the city on a city bike with your friends?

Smooth gears also contribute to the safety of a bike for school children. We primarily recommend hub gears for a bike for teens, as they offer better handling and are less susceptible to dirt and the influences of weather. A low weight also ensures that the youngsters get along better with their youth bike.

Another criterion for safe riding on a bike for teenagers is the correct seating position. The rule of thumb here is: the younger the person, the more upright the sitting position.

An upright sitting position allows for a better overview in traffic. This can be achieved by positioning the handlebars higher than the saddle.

When pedaling, your legs should ideally be as stretched as possible; when standing, at least the tips of your feet should touch the ground to ensure a secure footing on the youth bike.
