One of the first and most important points you should consider when choosing a children's e-bike is the right size of the electric bike for children.
Although the size should always be tailored to the child's individual requirements - a test drive never hurts - a size chart can be used as an initial guide.
A 20-inch children's e-bike is usually suitable for children around 118 cm tall.
A 24-inch children's e-bike is suitable for a height of around 126 cm, while a 26-inch children's e-bike should fit children around 145 cm.
Children's e-bike – when can my child ride it?
By law, electric bicycles for children with a maximum speed of 25 km/h are considered normal bicycles and can therefore be used by children like conventional bicycles.
However, beginners to cycling should not necessarily jump on a children's pedelec straight away, as motor-assisted two-wheelers require a certain level of motor skills, body control and the ability to assess behavior at higher speeds. As a guideline for the right age to start with a children's e-bike or youth e-bike, you can assume around 10 years.
